Which? Local

Which? is the largest consumer organisation in the UK and has been providing the public with independent advice and product reviews since the 1950s.

In 2006 PilotBean was introduced to Which? by one of their partner design agencies to supply the technology behind a new “proof of concept” website Which?Local.  The idea was to create the first UK focussed consumer driven review website with a strong social networking twist, putting control of the content into the hands of the consumer allowing them freedom to independently make reviews and recommendations about businesses and services.
A target audience in the Birmingham area was the main focus for this test site, using the site to provide and read reviews of business and trades people that they themselves had used in their local area.
After a very successful “proof of concept” site it was decided to roll out Which?Local throughout the whole of the UK in early 2007. Since then the site has gone from strength to strength with over 200,000 paid Which? subscribers now registered on the site. Which?Local is continuously being improved and developed with PilotBean taking a leading technical role.

The PilotSite CMS is the core technology behind the website which was selected because of the flexibility of the CMS which has allowed it to be extended as the business requirements have grown.
